Obituary of Melanie M. Kostka

Melanie “Molly” Matejek Kostka, age 90 of Derby, beloved wife of the late Thaddeus “Ted” Kostka, was called home to be with the Lord and died peacefully on February 11, 2016. Born in Derby on January 9, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Victoria Podgurski Matejek. Mrs. Kostka was a longtime parishioner of St. Michael Church and a member of the Ladies Guild, Rosary Society, St. Michael CWV Auxiliary Post 1562 and Mothers of Notre Dame WH Alumni. She is survived by her devoted son, John Kostka and his wife, Lynanne of Oxford; three precious granddaughters, Meghan, Hannah and Samantha Kostka of Oxford; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 38 years, she was predeceased by her son, Ted Kostka; daughter, Elizabeth Kostka; brothers, Peter, John and Andrew Matejek; and sister, Helena Agonis. A Mass of Christian Burial, MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH, will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Church.
