A lifelong resident of Shelton, husband of Milly, father and step-father, John is a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic Grammar School, Shelton; Notre Dame High School of West Haven; and of Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, N.Y. Working in funeral service over 37 years, he possesses expert experience in all facets of funeral service and has earned the designation of “Certified Funeral Service Practitioner” by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice, as well as “Certified Crematory Operator” by the National Funeral Directors Association.

In 2005, John served as the 116th President of the CT Funeral Directors Association and remains active on many committees as a Past President. He served as a Professional Consultant on the Funeral Service Professional Technical Advisory Council of Life Choice Donor Services. In 2008 he was awarded with special recognition by the New England Organ Bank.

He is a member of St. Joseph Church, Shelton and Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia; a 4th Degree Knight, Knights of Columbus; the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association; the Greater New Haven Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association. John is a member of the Seymour Lions Club, where he was nominated as the 2010 Lion of the Year and received the Lion’s Distinguished Service Award in 2013. He is also a social member of the Charters Hose Co. 4 of Ansonia and a member of the Shelton Historical Society.

In his down time, he enjoys spending time and traveling with his family. He is also a Registered FAA RC Pilot, a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics and member of The White Hills Eagles Radio Control Club where he enjoys flying RC model airplanes.

Raised in Monroe, Milly Zaleski is a graduate of Masuk High School.  A Shelton resident, wife of John and mother of three children, she stays active in her children’s many endeavors.  Milly joined the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home Staff in 2013 as the Office Administrator, following several years employed at The Hartford Insurance Company.  Because of her love of gardening, Milly took it upon herself to become Wakelee’s official gardener - she plants and maintains perennial and annual flowers throughout funeral home’s grounds during the spring, summer and fall.  She also maintains the flowers at Wakelee’s Ansonia Adopt-A-Spot location on Division Street and Wakelee Avenue.  Milly is a CT Notary Public and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Shelton.  She volunteers for Shelton High School Girls Swim Team; and for many years, volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the Shelton High School Marching Gaels Parent’s Association.  In her spare time, Milly enjoys cooking, gardening, making soy candles, crocheting, reading, but most of all spending quality time with her family. Her favorite vacation destination is any place tropical, where she can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the beach.
