Obituary of Walter Joseph Pawlak
PAWLAK - Walter Joseph Pawlak, age 92 of Ansonia, husband of Florence White Pawlak, died July 14, 2015 at the Shady Knoll Health Care Center, Seymour. Born in Derby on October 30, 1922, he was the son of the late John and Katherine Grzyb Pawlak. Mr. Pawlak worked as a machinist for the Farrel Co. for 47 years, until his retirement in 1998. He was a lifelong member and treasurer of the Polish Falcons, Nest 36 of Ansonia where he was the recipient of the prestigious Golden Legion of Honor Award, as well as many other citations. Mr. Pawlak also served as the treasurer for the Ansonia little league and Ansonia biddy basketball organizations and was a founding member of the “Ritz Boys Club” of Ansonia. He was an avid golfer, starting out in his 50’s and scored a hole in one in his 70’s. He is survived by his devoted children, Walter C. (Kathi) Pawlak of Ansonia and Karol Erickson of NY; cherished grandchildren, Tracey Pawlak of Ansonia, Leslie Pawlak of New Orleans, LA, Mark Mahan of Farmington, and Kassandra Erickson of NY; great-granddaughter Maisie Devine of New Orleans, LA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anne Karpinowich Pawlak; daughter, Wendi Ann Mahan; brothers, John, Charles and Stanley Pawlak; sisters, Jane Gowel, Helen Pawloski and Genevieve Stasonis. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett St., Ansonia. Interment will be in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
