Obituary of Rev. John E. Wilson

Rev. John E. Wilson, age 66, beloved husband of Mary Wilson, entered into peaceful rest on January 30, 2023, with his family by his side.  In the days leading up to his passing, he had a profound spiritual experience of joy with the Holy Spirit and was always remarking on how God had fulfilled all his desires and given him completeness.

Born in Vicovu de Sus, Romania on January 8, 1957, he was the first born of Gheorghe and Lidia Bostiog. He grew up surrounded by his large family, he had 9 other siblings and many aunts and uncles. He was blessed to be the fourth generation born in a pentecostal home and dedicated his life to the Lord in water baptism at the age of 16 on August 5, 1973, however he began preaching at the age of 14. He completed primary school in Vicovu de Sus and went to Timișoara to complete technical school. During his time in Timișoara, he evangelized with fellow friends. These moments deeply impacted him. He established his deep passion for the scriptures and connected with people that would become lifelong friends. On September 26, 1982, he married Maria Crasnean from Bilca (later known as Mary Wilson). 

Rev. Wilson emigrated to the United States in 1986 and initially lived in New York City, NY. He was ordained as pastor of Bisericii Pentiostale: Romanian Church of God, din Decatur Avenue, New York. However, his passion for scripture led him to Texas to attend Bible school. He completed the Practical Theology Diploma at Christ for the Nations Institute in 1991, and a Bachelor of Biblical Studies at Tyndale Theological Seminary in 1994.

He was proud to become a U.S. citizen. In his first career, Rev. Wilson was a skilled machinist and owned and operated the Royal Machine Shop in Dallas, TX. As he worked as a machinist, he continued to minister and lead bible studies. His passion for preaching and for spreading the word of the Lord took him to various congregations in Atlanta, Houston, Waco, Dallas, Queens, and eventually Derby. He enjoyed traveling to various parts of the world, but also loved to garden with his wife.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary, his son Daniel and his wife, Carolyn;  cherished granddaughter, Callidora,  and daughter Elizabeth; his siblings Elvira, Estera, Cornel, Ana, Ilie, Elisabetta, and Beni; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his daughters Ancuta, Lidia, and Sara; his parents Gheorghe and Lidia Bostiog, and siblings Lidia and Iosif.
