Obituary of Matthew Brian Hutton

Matthew Brian Hutton, age 43 of West Haven, beloved son of Brian C. and Tammy King Hutton of West Haven, died peacefully on September 18, 2023 at Griffin Hospital with his family by his side.  Matthew was born in Portsmouth, VA and was raised in Anderson, Indiana, before moving to West Haven in 2015.  He was a 1998 graduate of Anderson High School.  Matthew worked as a cashier for the West Haven Target Department Store for six years, until the time of his illness.  He was an avid drummer and loved all things California.  He enjoyed trips to Hollywood, touring the studios and was a lifelong lover of all types of movies genres. He aspired to be a screenwriter someday.  Matthew was a loyal and dedicated fan of the LA Dodgers and would make an annual pilgrimage to Dodger Stadium to root for his team.  Gentle hearted and kind, Matthew forged friendships wherever he went.  Even in his final days, Matthew touched the lives of many nurses and doctors.  He was a special soul.  He will be long remembered for his special love for his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his devoted siblings, Kelly Katara and her husband, Aashish of North Branford; a brother, Daniel Hutton and his wife, Sarah of Indiana; and cherished niece and nephews, Arjun Katara of North Branford and Vaughn & Austin Hutton of Indiana; as well as many cousins and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation to the medical professionals and staff of Griffin Hospital for their compassionate care extended to Matthew in his time of need.  At Matthew’s request, funeral services will be private.  The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Hospital Foundation, 130 Division Street, Derby, CT 06418, Memorial & Honor Gifts | Griffin Hospital Development Fund - Derby, Connecticut (griffinhealth.org)  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
