Obituary of George Penny

PENNY- George J. "Joey" Penny, age 63, beloved husband of Rita Lyons-Penny of Bridgeport, died March 30, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on March 1, 1947, he was the son of the late Joseph and Esther Morse-Penny. Mr. Penny was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and was employed as a machinist for the Alloy Engineering Co. for over 30 years. Joey's pastime was filled with the enjoyment of riding his motorcycle and playing cards. Above all, he was a devoted uncle and a loving husband to his wife of 39 years. He is survived by a brother, Ernest Penny of Bridgeport; a sister, Janet Montello and her husband, Bruce of Unionville; a sister-in-law, Linda Penny of Bridgeport; several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Malinda Penny and Sherry Penny-Simmonds, both of Ansonia; and a cherished god-daughter, Laniyah Schultz of Bridgeport. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Penny. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 10:00AM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. Interment will directly follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Friday, April 2, 2010, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
