Obituary of Nicholas Boyko
Nicholas Boyko, age 100 of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Esther Krywkew Boyko, died peacefully on September 21, 2023, at the Bishop Wicke Health Care Center, Shelton. Born in Shelton on February 15, 1923, he was the son of the late George and Helen Barna Boyko, Sr. Mr. Boyko was a lifelong resident of Shelton and graduate of Shelton High School. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, where he served as a motor machinist 3rd class. Following his military service, Mr. Boyko worked as a heavy machinist for the Farrell Co. for 42 years, until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed being outdoors, taking walks, fishing and listening to music. He also played the harmonica. During retirement, he enjoyed visiting his family in North Carolina.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Webber and granddaughter, Cherie Webber, both of NC; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife of 65 years, he was predeceased by a son, William N. Boyko and six brothers and sisters.
Interment with Military Honors will take place on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
