Obituary of Ana Velastegui

Ana Velastegui, age 60, beloved wife of Angel Velastegui of Shelton, died peacefully on November 3, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.  Born on March 17, 1963 in Riobamba, Ecuador, she was the beloved daughter of Pacifico Ruiz and Filomena Boada of Ecuador.

Mrs. Velastegui was raised in Ecuador and earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Polytechnic School of Chimborazo.  She emigrated to the United States in 1990, first settling in Bridgeport and then moved to Shelton in 2018.  She enjoyed cooking for her family and spent many hours knitting countless blankets and garments for friends and family.  Mrs. Velastegui was a pious woman of great Catholic faith, she was especially devoted to the rosary & the Virgin Mary, as well as  the Sacred Heart of Christ. She was a longtime Communicant of St. Raphael Church & St. Margaret Shrine, of Bridgeport, where she was a choir member, Catechists and visited the infirmed of the parish.  She will be long remembered for her special love and dedication for her family, always their needs above her own, while keeping her eyes on Christ to be her leader.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived her devoted children Lizbeth (Luis) Garcia of Shelton and Angelo (Fernanda) Velastegui of Wolcott; siblings, Marco (Cecilia) Boada, Carlos (Jacquelin) Ruiz, Pacifico (Laura) Ruiz, Mario (Marcia) Ruiz, Abraham (Grimanesa) Ruiz, all of Ecuador, Miriam Ruiz of Utah and Carmen (Alexis) Garcia of NJ; cherished granddaughters, Mariana, Gabriela, Helena, Belen, Angela and Luisa Garcia all of Shelton; as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by brothers, Javier Ruiz and Washington Ruiz.

A Mass of Christian Burial, MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH, will be celebrated in St. Margaret Shrine, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Ana Velastegui, de 60 años, amada esposa de Angel Velastegui de Shelton, falleció en paz el 3 de noviembre de 2023, en la comodidad de su hogar, rodeada de su familia. Nacida el 17 de marzo de 1963 en Riobamba, Ecuador, era la amada hija de Pacífico Ruiz y Filomena Boada de Ecuador.

La Sra. Velastegui se crió en Ecuador y obtuvo su licenciatura en administración de empresas de la Escuela Politécnica de Chimborazo. Emigró a Estados Unidos en 1990, instalándose primero en Bridgeport y luego se mudó a Shelton en 2018. Le gustaba cocinar para su familia y pasaba muchas horas tejiendo innumerables mantas y prendas para amigos y familiares. Doña Velastegui fue una mujer piadosa de gran fe católica y era especialmente devota del rosario, de la Virgen María y del Sagrado Corazón de Jesus. Fue comulgante durante mucho tiempo de la Iglesia St. Raphael y el Santuario St. Margaret, Bridgeport, donde fue miembro del coro, catequista y visitó a los enfermos. Ella será recordada por mucho tiempo por su especial amor y dedicación a su familia, siempre sus necesidades por encima de las suyas y manteniendo sus ojos en Cristo como su líder.

Además de su esposo y sus padres, le sobreviven sus devotos hijos Lizbeth (Luis) García de Shelton y Angelo (Fernanda) Velastegui de Wolcott; hermanos, Marco (Cecilia) Boada, Carlos (Jacquelin) Ruiz, Pacifico (Laura) Ruiz, Mario (Marcia) Ruiz, Abraham (Grimanesa) Ruiz, todos de Ecuador, Miriam Ruiz de Utah y Carmen (Alexis) García de NJ; queridas nietas, Mariana, Gabriela, Helena, Belén, Ángela y Luisa García, todas de Shelton; así como muchas sobrinas y sobrinos. Sus Hermanos fallecidos Javier Ruiz y Washington Ruiz.

Se celebrará una misa de entierro cristiano, REUNIÓN DIRECTA EN LA IGLESIA, en el Santuario St. Margaret, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport el miércoles 8 de noviembre de 2023 a las 11:00 a.m. Seguirá el entierro en el cementerio Mount St. Peter, Derby.
