Obituary of Mary Frances Judkins
Mary Frances Judkins, age 81 of Shelton, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024, at the CT Hospice, Branford, surrounded by her family. Born in Fayetteville, NC on October 16, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Cora Sampson Judkins. Ms. Judkins was raised in Fayetteville, graduated from Armstrong High School and attended Fayetteville State University. In the early 1960’s, Ms. Judkins made her home in Stamford, CT and worked as an Executive Secretary to the Vice President of Pitney Bowes for over 30 years, until her retirement in 2010. In 2016 Ms. Judkins moved to Shelton, where she has since resided. She was the true matriarch of the Judkins family, her world revolved around her children and grandchildren. Ms. Judkins enjoyed caring for her grandchildren as they grew into adulthood. She kept her mind sharp as an avid crossword puzzler, playing games on her laptop, and kept well informed on current local and world events. She was regimented in watching her favorite TV shows from crime dramas to talk shows and was a talented cook; her ribs and potato salad were legendary! Ms. Judkins took pride in her independence and bravely fought her cancer illness of five months, protecting her family from any undo worry or concern. She will be long remembered for her special and unending love for her family. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Tina Judkins of Stratford, Paula Judkins of Shelton, Michelle Judkins of Shelton and Donna Judkins of West Haven, Son-in law LeJuane Lewis of Stamford; siblings, Louise Hampton of NC, Thomas Judkins of NC, Curtiss Judkins of NC, Eva Wilson of FL and Catherine Sanders of NC; her cherished grandchildren, Michael McClain, Gary Judkins, DeMarc Judkins, Danielle Judkins, Victor Cruz, Ny’Asia Tyson, Breana Brown, Garret Alston and Justise Floyd; and sweet great granddaughter, Inara Cruz; as well as countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, James Judkins, Wilbert Judkins, Thelbert Lee Judkins, Ernest Judkins, Eloise Ward, Annie Sanders, Carrie Sampson and Mabel Moore.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
