Obituary of Donatas Balys Vildzius

Donatas Balys Vildzius, age 64, beloved husband of Darlene Vildzius of Oxford, died peacefully on March 17, 2024 at Griffin Hospital with his devoted wife by his side.  Born in New London, CT on December 15, 1959, he was the son of the late Gediminas and Irene Bajalis Vildzius.  Mr. Vildzius was raised in Mystic and Ledyard, CT and was a 1977 graduate of Ledyard High School.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Siena College, NY and enjoyed a prosperous 26-year career as a financial advisor.  In 2020, Mr. Vildzius became a life insurance agent and was employed up to the time of his illness.  He loved the state of Vermont with passion, enjoying the beauty of each season in the green mountain state.  He was an avid skier and made frequent trips to Killington and Okemo, as well as participating in hiking, fishing and horseback riding in the vast outdoors of Vermont.  Mr. Vildzius was environmentally conscience at a young age and planted countless trees throughout his lifetime.  His green thumb and knack for gardening transformed his property into a park-like landscape. His skill on the BBQ grill was well known to many and enjoyed at cookouts and gatherings.  In addition to his spouse of 17 years, he is survived by his brother, Gintas Vildzius and his wife, Elaine of CO; a niece, Jennifer Vildzius-Chapman and her husband, Adam Chapman of MA; and Nephew, Matthew  Vildzius and his girlfriend, Samatha Eckerling of CO; as well as several cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 PM.  Interment will be private.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
