Obituary of Stanley Joseph Drauszewski
Stanley Joseph Drauszewski, age 94, beloved husband of Ann Marie Knapp Drauszewski of Ansonia, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Derby on May 1, 1929, he was the son of the late Jan and Katarzyna Mierzwa Drauszewski. A lifelong Valley resident, Mr. Drauszewski was a graduate of St. Michael Grammar School where he was fluent in Polish. He then graduated from Derby High school and continued his education by graduating from the CT school of Electronics. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service, Mr. Drauszewski enjoyed a long and successful sales career in the electronics industry. He worked for the former American TV Company, Aikens Company and the Signal Electronics Company, until the time of his retirement. His proficient abilities and determined work ethic helped him to exceed target sales goals, thus earning company paid vacations to Greece, England, Spain and Hawaii. At a very young age, Mr. Drauszewski developed his passion for golf while caddying at Racebrook Country Club. He was a lifelong avid golfer, achieving 7 holes in one, and was a member of the Grassy Hill Country Club and Highland Golf Club. Mr. Drauszewski was a Communicant of the Church of the Assumption and will be long remembered as a loving & devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to loving spouse of 67 years, he is survived by “his girls’, Deborah Leary and her husband, Robert and Karen Lisi and her husband, Robert; a sister, Elizabeth Peters and a brother, Joseph Drauszewski, cherished grandchildren, Brendon Leary and his wife Kate, Caitlin Leary and her companion, Jonny Wexler, Robert Lisi and his wife, Heather and Christopher Lisi and his companion, Shannon Bass, great-grandchildren, Millie Lisi and Sloane & Nolan Leary; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Anna Przybyloski and brothers, Henry, Roman, John and Edward Drauszewski. We are grateful for the love and care given by Grazyna (Pietruska). She made it possible for him to live out his remaining time comfortably at home. Family and friends may call on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12: 30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM in the Church of the Assumption, 61 N. Cliff Street, Ansonia. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Derby.
