Obituary of Geraldine Zanetta Withy

Geraldine Zanetta Withy, age 82 of Ansonia, died peacefully on May 20, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.  Born in St. John, Antigua on July 31, 1941, she was the daughter of the William Withy and Ida Mae Isaac.  Ms. Withy was raised in Antigua and immigrated to the U.S. in 1959, where she settled in the Bronx, NY.  She was a 1988 graduate of the Burrough of Manhattan Community College, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree.  Ms. Withy worked as an Account Representative for the Cigna Insurance Company for 30 years, until the time of her retirement in 2009.  Following her retirement, she relocated to Connecticut to be closer to her family.  Ms. Withy then attended the Adult Education Program of the West Haven Public School System and graduated in 2011 as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  She was a lifelong devout Christian and never waivered in her faith.  A lover of music and dancing, her energy and spirit were contagious at every social gathering.  Together with her family, she made many memorable trips to the Caribbean and West Indies.  She will be long remembered for her special love for her family, especially her three grandchildren.  Ms. Withy is survived by her devoted son, Andrew F. Prescott, Jr. and his wife, Leslie of Ansonia; a sister, Linnette Robinson and her husband, Freeston of Antigua; brothers, Victor Withy and his wife, Carol of England and William Withy and his wife, Claire of NY; cherished grandchildren, Raquel Prescott and her husband, Brandon of CA, Andrew F. Prescott III of Seatle, WA and Amanda Prescott of Ansonia; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins in the U.S. and Antigua.  She was predeceased by sisters, Daffy Withy, Laurel Bino and Ingrid Withy; and brothers, Keith and Vernon Withy.

Family and friends may call on Friday, May 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.
