Obituary of Katherine Ann Gaudio
Katherine Ann Gaudio, age 80 of Gilbert, AZ, formerly a longtime Valley resident, died peacefully on June 12, 2024 at the Chandler Regional Hospital, Chandler, AZ. Born on December 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Frank G. and Stella V. Lucas Boken. Ms. Gaudio was raised in Bridgeport and was a graduate of Harding High School. She enjoyed a long and successful 35-year career as a telephone operator for SNET and later, AT&T, until the time of her retirement in 1995. Not one to be idle, Ms. Gaudio then worked as a registrar in the patient registration and finance departments of Bridgeport Hospital for over 20 years, until her second retirement in 2019. Simultaneously while employed at Bridgeport Hospital, she truly enjoyed being a short-order cook at the Germania Schwaben Singing Society of Bridgeport. Moving to Chandler, AZ in 2022, she enjoyed the western lifestyle and climate, residing with her sister and brother-in-law. She will be long remembered as a dedicated mother and grandmother, and for her tireless work ethic. She is survived by her sons, Brian Gaudio and his wife, Heidi of Wallingford and Anthony L. Gaudio of Middletown; a sister, Margaret Tomlinson and her husband, Robert, of Gilbert, AZ; a brother, Thomas Boken and his wife, Sharon of Seymour; a cherished grandson, Evan M. Gaudio of Wallingford; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Ms. Gaudio was predeceased by a sister Frances Sakal and her husband, Joseph; and her former spouse & lifelong friend, Joseph M. Gaudio.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A memorial service in celebration of Katherine’s life will take place at 6:30 PM. Private interment will take place in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the ICU Medical Staff at Dignity Health at Chandler Regional Hospital, for their compassionate care extended to Kathy in her time of need.
