Obituary of John Linnen

LINNEN- John Robert Linnen, age 73, beloved husband of Barbara Ann Carroll Linnen of Bridgeport, died May 7, 2010 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Astoria, Queens, NY, on March 13, 1937, he was the son of the late John T. and Catherine Leona Shanley Linnen. Mr. Linnen was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, long time resident of Bridgeport and worked as a furnace operator for the former Carpenter Steel Corp. for over 25 years, until the time of his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time at Captains Cove Seaport. In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Barbara Calvao and her husband, Jose of CO, Doreen Torok and her husband, Gabe of Naugatuck, John Linnen and his wife Marilyn of Bridgeport; Daughter-in-law, Candace Linnen of Shelton; a sister, Sharon Starr and her husband, Gene of FL; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His devoted son, Todd M. Linnen predeceased him by 4 weeks. A graveside service will take place on Friday, May 14, 2010, at 11:00 AM in St. Michael Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave., Stratford.
