Obituary of Cecil Augustas Lampley
Cecil Augustas Lampley, age 78, beloved husband to Gloria Vandeyar Lampley of Ansonia, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. Born in Georgetown, Guyana on March 14, 1946, he was the son of the late Bertrand and Sheila Adams Lampley.
Mr. Lampley immigrated to the U.S. in 2009, settling in the valley and residing in Ansonia since 2021. He enjoyed a long career as a skilled woodworker until his retirement, earning a reputation among fellow craftsmen as the best woodworker of his time. Bringing his building skills to the retail world, he worked as an assembler at the Derby Walmart and later at the Shelton Walmart, where he made many friends who often described him as a calm gentleman.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his eight children: Patricia (Jerry) Griffith, Sonia (Shane) Anthony, Cecil Lampley Jr., Elizabeth (Gene) John, Anthony (Dhanmattie) John, David John, Raymond John, and Anita John; grandchildren: Jamario JD Griffith, Kimberley Robinson, Steven Eastman, Kayla Holmes, DeLisa, and Dylan John; sisters: Margaret, Esther Vanessa Lampley, and Pauline Hicks; and brothers: Floyd, Clifton, David, Peter, and Lennox Lampley, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the dear friend of Alvin Holmes and many others.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A funeral service will take place at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
