Obituary of William Karcher
On November 18, 2024, we said goodbye to Bill Karcher, a wonderful husband, father, and friend, who left an unforgettable mark on our lives at the age of 87. Born on January 31, 1937, in Derby, CT, Bill was a Shelton native, spending his final days surrounded by family and friends in Southbury.
Bill had a gift for quietly observing life with a sharp wit and dry humor that often warmed the hearts of those around him. He was known for his calm demeanor and patient, caring nature. Bill was the kind of man who found joy in the simple things, like a good lunch, the company of loved ones, and shenanigans with Hern and Jimmy.
Bill embarked on his career journey as a proud graduate of Shelton High School, class of 1954. He honed his skills during a five-year apprenticeship at Farrel Corporation starting in 1955. With a great entrepreneurial spirit, he went on to own Industrial Wood Products in 1972, proudly working alongside his son and grandson until his retirement in 2020.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Karl and Katherine Karcher and his brother Karl.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Susanne Karcher, he is survived by his 3 children, William Karcher and his wife Cindy of Shelton, Alicia Plant and her husband David of Southbury, and Colleen Stockno and her husband Marc of Oxford; cherished grandchildren Zoe Ricco and her husband Anthony, William Karcher and his fiancé Kelly Howard, Alexander Plant and his wife Jenna, Isabel Plant, Brendan and Emma McClellan; beloved great granddaughter Quincy Ricco.
