Obituary of George Dudik

DUDIK, Jr. - George Dudik, Jr., age 87, of Seymour, beloved husband of the late Doris Materas Dudik, died May 22, 2010, at Griffin Hospital. Born in Ansonia on January 26, 1923, he was the son of the late George and Susan Hajduk Dudik, Sr. Mr. Dudik was a lifelong valley resident and worked as a cutter-grinder and tool crib manager for the Farrel Co for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1985. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving in the Rhineland and Northern France where he was wounded multiple times and awarded the Purple Heart as well as many other decorations. At age 16, Mr. Dudik joined the CCC, traveling to Wyoming to build log cabin ranger stations. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fast pitch softball with the "Windy Hill Boys" of Ansonia. Mr. Dudik was a talented craftsman, hand making ornate, heirloom quality dollhouses for his daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. On a recent trip to Washington DC, he was inspired to create a replica Mt. Vernon dollhouse. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Georgia Deren; his cherished granddaughter, Kelli Wrogg and her husband, Benjamin; and his dearly loved great-granddaughter, Emily M. Wrogg, all of Seymour; sisters, Eileen Rogucki of Shelton, Anne Sember of Derby, Dorothy Stevens of Seymour; sisters-in-law, Anne Gruttadauria of Torrington, Amelia Hein of Seymour and a brother-in-law, George Chrystal of NC; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his spouse, he was predeceased by sisters Mary Pesta and Margaret Krilivsky. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Ave., Seymour. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour.
