Obituary of Carolyn Otto-Murhamer

Carolyn Otto-Murhamer, age 86 of Ansonia, died peacefully on December 12, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.  Born in New Haven on September 15, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Curt H. and Ethel McCarter Otto.  Mrs. Otto-Murhamer was raised in West Haven and was a 1956 graduate of West Haven High School.  She held several clerical office positions while employed at Sikorsky Aircraft for over 30 years, until the time of her retirement in 1999.    Mrs. Otto-Murhamer was the life of every party! Her sense of humor and liberal (or lack thereof) restrain entertained one and all.  Her epic jokes are still being told today!  She was a crocheting machine! She hand crafted countless afghans for family and friends, afghans that have now become precious heirlooms.  Along with her daughter, Mrs. Otto-Murhamer was a volunteer for the Oxford Special Olympics, was a longtime Valley resident and a lover of all animals, especially her feline companions.  She is survived by her devoted grandchildren, Kevin R. Spring and his wife Paula of Cheshire and Leanne D. Spring of Ansonia; her cherished great-granddaughters, Karissa A. Spring and Kaitlin R. Spring of Cheshire; a special niece, Marci B. Veeley of West Haven; as well as several other dear nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Otto-Murhamer was predeceased by her daughter, Kathryn M. Spring; sister, Elizabeth DiStefano; and brothers John Otto and Curt and his wife Kathryn Otto.
