Obituary of Anna Evanko

EVANKO-Anna Marion Rencsko Evanko, age 97 of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late John Andrew Evanko, died December 15, 2007 in her home with her daughter by her side. Born in Cincinnati, OH on February 14, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Lesko and Sussie Fedors Rencsko. Mrs. Evanko was a lifelong Ansonia resident and active communicant of Assumption Church. Together with her husband, Mrs. Evanko owned and operated the former Evanko Grocery Store of N. Main St., Ansonia, for many years until the time of her retirement. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Barbara Joganich of Wallingford and son, John R. Evanko and his wife Ethel of FL; a sister, Mary Rencsko of Trumbull; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Verena Evans of Easton. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Evanko was predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 21, 2007, in Assumption Church, 61 N. Cliff St., Ansonia. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Friday, December 21, 2007, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in Assumption Church.
