Obituary of Steven Brushitis

BRUSHITIS- Steven Brushitis, age 87 of Oxford, beloved husband of the late Margaret Mary Perez Brushitis, died February 21, 2012 in Griffin Hospital, three short months following the death of his wife of 63 years. Born in Derby on June 21, 1924, he was the son of the late Michael and Eunice Oneschuk Brushitis. Mr. Brushitis worked as a supervisor for the W.E. Bassett Co. for 45 years until the time of his retirement. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church and member of the St. Mary's Men's Club. He is survived by his devoted son, James Brushitis and his wife, Gail of Oxford; cherished grandchildren, Jason Brushitis of Oxford and Nicole Kaminski and her husband, Paul of Harwinton; and a brother, Paul Brushitis of Derby. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Brushitis; brothers, Michael Nishti, Andrew Nishti and John Brushitis; sisters, Mary Shpak, Ida Nishti and Julia Gurresh; and sister-in-law, Adeline Brushitis. Funeral services will take place from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia, on Saturday, February 25, 2011 at 10:45 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Mary's Church, Elizabeth St., Derby. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter's Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:45 AM, prior to Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Building and Restoration Fund.
