Obituary of John Bean
BEAN-John Sanderson Bean, age 69 of Bethany, beloved partner of 38 years, Susan L. White of Bethany, died April 21, 2012, in the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. Born in Ayer, MA, on December 16, 1942, he was the son of the late John Leslie and Sylvia Sanderson Bean. Mr. Bean a U.S. Army Veteran, served for two years, including some time in Germany. He worked for a few years as a psychiatric aide in Norwich Hospital and at the Yale Mental Health Institute. He also worked as a driver representative for IML Freight, Inc, and was a member of the Teamsters Union for many years, until the time of his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hiking and canoeing with Susan and appreciated the peace found in nature and green country. John and Susan traveled to the United Kingdom many times and enjoyed such serenity. His affable personality made him a magnet for children and he could often be found lending a helping hand to those in need. In addition to Susan, he is survived by a niece, Rachel Catherine Thibeault and her husband, Richard of Cumberland Center, ME; and Aunt, Cleo McDowell of Ayer, MA; cousins, Gail Clough of Ayer, MA, Burton Goodrich and his wife, Janet of MA, Judy Hadley and her husband, John of MA, Jill and Bob Tibbetts of NH, and Daniel Corliss of TX, as well as dear neighborhood friends. Funeral services, MEETING DIRECTLY AT CHURCH, will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012, at 11:00 AM in the Christ Episcopal Church, 526 Amity Rd. (Route 63), Bethany. Interment will follow in Carrington Cemetery, Bethany. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Ave., Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 6009.
