Obituary of Elizabeth Marino

MARINO-Elizabeth "Betty" Marino, age 92 of Newtown, previously of Oxford, died February 12, 2012 surrounded and comforted by her loving family. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on January 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Leland Bayles and Sarah Lecretia Killmer Bayles. Mrs. Marino grew up in Hyde Park, NY and this is where she met her soul mate of 68 years, Joseph Marino. They married and lived in Dover Plains, NY before settling in Bridgeport for more than 40 years, and then Oxford for the next 20 years. She was a homemaker, raising 4 children and was active in the Derby and Ansonia Senior Centers. She is survived by her devoted children, Joseph F. Marino and his wife, Carol of Shelton, Marie Ryan and her husband, Gary of Mesa, AZ, Michael Marino and his wife Elizabeth of Shelton, and Karin Hooper and her husband, Wayne of Sandy Hook; a sister, Sandra Haines and her husband, Richard of FL; 10 Cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Marino was predeceased by her husband Joseph and a grandson, Todd Marino. To honor her wishes funeral services are private. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial gathering in celebration of her life on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Carol Marino, 3 Peters Lane, Shelton. The family wishes to give special thanks to all the staff on 2C, at the Masonic Home of Newtown for their care and compassion provided over the last three years; as well as the Masonic Home Hospice Team who ensured her comfort and dignity in her last days.
