Obituary of Howard Weinberg

Weinberg-Howard A. Weinberg, age 80 of Oxford, husband of the late Stephanie L. Koliada Weinberg, passed away May 25, 2012 in the comfort of his home with his beloved family. Born in Kansas City, MO on December 10, 1931, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Ann Goldberg Weinberg. Mr. Weinberg was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War and a retired Chief where he spent 8 years in the regular service and 12 years in the reserve service. One of his great passions was in the culinary arts. In the 1960's he owned and operated "Howard's Fish and Chips" formerly of Bridgeport, then becoming a baker for the Pepperidge Farm Co. He was an employee of the US Postal Service and lastly, Mr. Weinberg retired from the Yankee Gas Co. as a Project Engineer following 20 years of employment. He was a devout member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church where he used his passion for cooking on many church functions and events. He also enjoyed working for the Bridgeport and Milford Soup Kitchens until his illness. As a young adult Howard enjoyed coaching in the Little League, Biddy Basketball and the Sea Cadets. He is survived by his sons, David, Craig and Mark and his wife Nancy, a brother Dennis, sister Judy; cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Natasha and Lydia; as well as several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services are Tuesday the 29th. Interment with Military Honors will be in the CT State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
