Obituary of Esther Hylwa

HYLWA- Esther Hylwa, age 98 of Ansonia, died February 21, 2008, in her home following a long illness. Born in Ansonia on August 27, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Elias and Tecla Ciok Hylwa. Miss Hylwa was a lifelong Ansonia resident and parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Church. She was a long time choir member, a member of the League of Ukrainian Catholics, GCU Sokol Society, and the Ansonia Senior Center. Before her retirement, Miss Hylwa worked for many years in the Ansonia Wire and Cable and Farrel Companies. She is survived by her beloved sisters, Stephanie Hylwa of Ansonia and Helen Zelinsky of Ansonia; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Andrew, John and William Hylwa and sisters, Ann Felock and Mary Hylwa. Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 25, 2008 at 9:15 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia at 10:00 AM. Springtime interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby.
