Obituary of Anthony Stewart

Anthony (Tony) E. Stewart, age 75, beloved husband of Mary Lynch Stewart of Bridgeport, departed this life peacefully with his family by his side on November 22, 2013 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born on February 13, 1938 in Donaghadee, Co. Down, Northern Ireland, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Margaret Graham Stewart. Mr. Stewart immigrated to the U.S. in 1961 and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. He worked as a printer for the Georgia Pacific Co. of Norwalk for over 20 years, until his retirement in 2003. He was an avid baseball enthusiast and a loyal fan of the NY Yankees. He will be remembered for the many family conversations regarding baseball. In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Thomas (Christine) Stewart of Ansonia, Patrick Stewart of New Haven and Margaret (Edmund) Stanis of Derby; sisters, Eileen (Ezio Uberti) Stewart of Arlington, MA and Anne Stelzenmueller of Dublin, Ireland; cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Jacqueline and Anastasia; as well as several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by brothers, Michael and Cornelius Stewart. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St., Derby. Interment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
