Obituary of Edward J. Androski

ATTORNEY EDWARD J. ANDROSKI Ed was born June 18, 1947 and lived in Ansonia most of his life. He graduated from St. Joseph Grammar School in 1961 and went on to St. John Kanty Prep School in Erie, Pennsylvania and then of course to the University of Alabama. Ed's love for his alma mater was always obvious from his joyful conversations about Alabama as well from his clothes, his car, his office and his house. Not to mention the fact that the fall was always a busy time for Ed because it was football season and Ed did not do anything else if Alabama was playing. Ed's education also took him to study language and economics at the University of Warsaw, Poland, language at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland and Anglo Saxon Archeology at Oxford University in Oxford, England. After college, Ed went on to the Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1972. Ed was admitted to the Connecticut State Bar, the Federal District Court for the District of Connecticut and the United States Supreme Court. Ed started his legal career as a Clerk in New Haven for the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch and the went on to be an Assistant States Attorney for the Superior Court GA #5. Ed then joined the family law firm of Androski and Androski with his father Judge John F. Androski and his brother Atty. John F. X. Androski. His sister Mary later joined the firm and it became Androski, Androski, Androski and Androski. His niece Caroline Baird then joined the firm in 2003. Ed practiced law for thirty four years at his firm with his family members as his partners. He handled real estate closings and transactions, he represented clients in Bankruptcy Court and Family Court and was a civil and criminal trial attorney. Ed was a Small Claims Commissioner for thirteen years and then became a Magistrate for the State of Connecticut Judicial Department where he heard cases in eight Geographical courts around the state. For the past fourteen years, Ed was also a Special Public Defender for the State of Connecticut where he represented indigent clients in Part A and Part B cases in Derby and Milford, Connecticut. Additionally Ed had extensive practice in the Connecticut Probate System, Connecticut Commission on Human Rights, Freedom of Information Commission and various local municipal boards. He also served as special corporation counsel to the the Towns of Ansonia and Seymour. Ed's love of travel led him to start his travel and tour company US Adventures. He personally led tour groups through England, France and Canada. He sent many people on trips all over Europe and the Caribbean. He was a former mountain climber with experience climbing in Switzerland, the United States and the Canadian Rockies. He was also a certified scuba diver who had gone diving in waters all over the world. Ed volunteered his time to numerous organizations. One that was very near and dear to heart was the American Red Cross. His mother Helen had been the Chapter Chairman of the Lower Naugatuck Valley Chapter and Ed followed her footsteps by working in the same position. In 2005 Ed was the Volunteer of the Year and then later received the Exceptional Volunteer Service Award. Ed also spent many years recruiting students from the Northeast to attend the University of Alabama. He sent many students to the University and most recently helped an outstanding young girl from Shelton High School become interested in going to Bama. She is now thriving there as a freshman in the University Honors Program. Ed was President of the New York Area Chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association and ran the organization the year it was voted Outstanding Chapter of the Year. Ed also was a member of the National Advocates Association for many years and when he became president he ran one of the largest attended conventions for the organization. Ed certainly loved working at his law firm with his family and representing clients for over thirty years. He also loved his alma mater the University of Alabama and was always amazed how Bama could be a conversation starter because people he would run into had some interest and or connection with Alabama. He also had a strong desire to travel all over the world and see and witness everything he could. But when he was home, besides his loving wife Marie who was the love of his life over the years he had three animal companions that would never leave his side, Sealy, Scooby and Toby.
