Obituary of Raymond Richard Porell

PORELL- Raymond Richard Porell, age 85, beloved husband of Madeline Kross Porell of Seymour, died June 30, 2014 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in St. Johnsbury, VT on October 5, 1928, he was the son of the late Wolford Napoleon and Gertrude Rivers Porell. Mr. Porell was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and resided in Seymour for many years. He worked as an engineer for Bridgeport Hospital for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Porell was a member of the American Legion, David S. Miles Post #174, Oxford and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Raymond Goldbach Post, Stratford. He was also a member of the Seymour, Naugatuck, Ansonia and Oxford Senior Centers. In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Diane Porell Brown of VT, Richard (Dawn) Porell of Oxford, Rae (Rick) Dlugokenski of Seymour, Jody Porell of Beacon Falls and Jason Porell of Naugatuck; a brother, Douglas Porell of TX; Cherished grandchildren, Ericka, Sara and Ricky Dlugokenski of Seymour; Ryan Bradley of Beacon Falls; Amy, Richard, and Curt Porell of Oxford. He was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Raymond. Funeral services are private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Seymour Animal Shelter, Silvermine Road, Seymour, CT 06483.
