Obituary of John Joseph Zalenski
John Joseph Zalenski, age 85, beloved husband of Elizabeth Wydra Zalenski of Ansonia, died peacefully on May 3, 2015 at Griffin Hospital. Born in Ansonia on July 18, 1929, he was the son of the late Stanley and Antoinette Peremba Zalenski. Mr. Zalenski was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, lifelong Ansonia resident and Communicant of St. Michael Church. He worked as a Custodian in the Emmett O’Brien Technical High School, Ansonia for over 24 years, until his retirement in 1994. In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by a sisters-in-law, Evelyn Zalenski of Ansonia, Regina DeFrank of Ansonia; brothers-in-law, Paul (Beverly) Wydra of Orange, Bernard (Patricia) Wydra of FL, and Edward (Susan) Wydra of Milford; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Stella Zygmunt and Rose Draus; brothers, Anthony, Frank, Joseph, Edward, Walter and Chester Zalenski. Funeral services will take place from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby, at 11:00 AM. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
