Obituary of Bernard Edward Beres
Bernard E. Beres, age 93 of Seymour, husband of the late Helen Sabo Beres, died peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the West Haven VA Medical Center. Born in Northampton, MA on September 15, 1922, he was the son of the late Martin and Blanche Golembiesky Beres. Mr. Beres was a graduate of Seymour High School and a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He worked as a machinist and model maker for the Farrel, Sikorsky, and Gillette companies and retired from Bic Pen Corp. following 25 years of employment. Mr. Beres was very active with the Shelton and Derby Senior Center, enjoyed dancing, music, and played his accordion in many area bands. He was an avid gardener of vegetables and flowers, and managed his own Christmas Tree Farm in Seymour. Mr. Beres enjoyed touring the USA on many cross country trips as well as cruising the Caribbean, Hawaii and Alaska on ocean liners. Mr. Beres is survived by his devoted children, Paul (Nancy) Beres of Seymour and Bernadette (David) Glass of ID; cherished grandchildren, Kimberly (Blake) MacKinney of Oxford, Erica (Jason) Schoerner of FL, Jessica Ledbetter of ID and Amanda (Christopher) Drake of ID, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and his loving companion and her family, Jane Randall of Shelton. He was predeceased by sisters, Helen Husti, Mary Markut, Genevieve Vitali; and great-grandson Silar Swallow. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 12:00 PM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will be private.
