Obituary of Frank Thomas Tonucci

Frank T. Tonucci, age 74, beloved husband of Susan P. Sember Tonucci of Oxford, died May 2, 2019 at Bridgeport Hospital following a sudden illness.  Born in Derby on June 20, 1944, he was the son of the late Armando and Bertha Blanko Tonucci.  Mr. Tonucci was a lifelong Valley resident, a 1962 graduate of Shelton High School and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.  He worked for SNET and became a manager with AT&T Cellular Towers division, before retiring in 2002.  Mr. Tonucci was a member of the American Legion, David S. Miles Post #174 of Oxford, the Concordia Singing Society of Seymour and the NRA.  He enjoyed target shooting, carpentry, and being a HAM radio operator when he wasn’t busy being a “Mr. Fix It” with home repairs and improvements in his and his children’s homes.  He also took pride in keeping his lawn and garden in perfect shape, but not before feeding the birds and chipmunks which waited for him in the morning. He will be long remembered for his special love for his family, his strong bond with his grandchildren, and his gentle caring for his five grand-kitties.  In addition to his wife of 51 years, he is survived by his devoted children, David (Erin) Tonucci of Southbury and Sally (Louis, III) Pierro of Derby; grandchildren, Louis Pierro, IV, Vincenzo Pierro, Gina Pierro and Giuliana Pierro, all of Derby.  Mr. Tonucci was predeceased by brothers, Armand J. and Robert M. Tonucci. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at 12:00 Noon from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM at the Parish of St. Nicholas, Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour.  Interment with military honors will follow in Mt.
