Obituary of Martha I. Adamchuk
Martha Irene Adamchuk, age 96 of Ansonia, beloved wife of the late Walter Adamchuk, died peacefully on October 19, 2019, in her home with her daughter by her side. Born in Bridgeport on August 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Mikula Janosko. Mrs. Adamchuk was a resident of Ansonia for 66 years and worked as a secretary for the former Chance-Vought Aircraft and the Sponge Rubber companies, prior to her employment at the Ansonia Town Hall. Following her retirement, Mrs. Adamchuk shared her passion for history as a volunteer at the David Humphreys House of Derby for many years. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, quilting and knitting, crossword puzzles and was an avid fan of the UCONN Girls’ Basketball Team. She is survived by her daughter, Carol J. Hookailo of NY and a son, Paul (Marguerite) Adamchuk of Cape Cod, MA; and beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her God-daughter, Janelle (Kurt) Johnson of Ansonia and her “second daughter” Sharon Barth of Ansonia; and dear nieces, Mary Kentos of Stratford, Barbara Homan of MI, and many more cherished nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband of 47 years, she was predeceased by a son, Robert Adamchuk; sisters, Julia Ayles, Anna Hartmann and Pauline Sarock; brothers, Cyril, Joseph, Theodore, Albert, William, Stephen, and Edward Janosko. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.
