Running with Mike one day in 1988 - knowing i was out of work, he said to take the test and get a job with Customs. I did and scored high. While waiting to be called he said he would reach out to speed it up. He did and I was hired. A wonderful man. Great persona. I retired in 2018. Grief is difficult but good memories help us cope. Mel

Mel, this is Karen, Mike's daughter. Thank you so much for sharing this. He was like that... helping. He really was a kind man and I miss him always. And, so HIM that you met him running! He was quite the athlete and ran for decades!

Dear Friends and Family, They say a "Picture is worth a 1000 words" . . . so to start with we would like to add some photos of Mike & Evelyn with some of their family. Mike & Evelyn were ALWAYS sooo hospitable and generous when we would drive thru, insisting we stay overnight with them even tho we knew it would not be easy considering their age & health. But we loved our brief visits and so we did stay over whenever possible. Dad, Ken Meimann (related thru marriage to Marlene, who was a 2nd cousin to Mike's sister Caroline), said he always remembers Mike's warm smile & generous spirit. Saying he remembers him as very kind! One side point is that years ago dad remembers Mike having a Hess truck collection? My brother was young then (so this would be in the late 70's or early 80's?) and so dad decided to pick up a few here & there! We still have one today :-) but I never knew who gave dad the inspiration :-)) We will miss Mike and look forward to the time when those sleeping in the graves will "hear his voice & come out!"
