Obituary of Joan Carole Istvan

Joan Carole Istvan, age 73 of Derby, beloved wife of the late David G. Istvan, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2020. Born in Bridgeport on June 28, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Rose Luisi Niski. Mrs. Istvan was a longtime Derby resident. She worked as a telecommunications representative for SNET, SBC Global and AT&T for over 30 years, until the time of her retirement in 2011. She enjoyed shopping, walking the Derby Riverwalk and absolutely adored her canine companion, Max. Mrs. Istvan was a dedicated mother and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and will be long remembered for her special love for her family. She is survived by her devoted children, Lisa Ciarnella of Bridgeport, David M. Istvan of Derby, Gina Ramos and son-in-law Ernest Ramos of Danbury; cherished grandsons, Alexander Matthew Ramos of Danbury and Antonio David Ciarnella of Bridgeport. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, John Niski, Sr. and son-in-law, Massimo Ciarnella.
