Obituary of Helen Tichy
Helen Tichy, age 94 of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Vincent Tichy, died peacefully on August 18, 2020 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Born in Bortne, Poland on January 13, 1926, she was the daughter of late Andrew and Anna Kwochka Dokla. Mrs. Tichy was a Shelton resident most of her life and member of St. Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia. She worked at the former Chromium Process and then as a machine operator and quality control inspector for the Bic Pen Co., for many years, until the time of her retirement in 1991. Mrs. Tichy was a member of the Lemko Club of Derby, the Russian American Club of Shelton and the Versatile Club of Shelton. She is survived by her devoted children, Michael (Carol) Tichy DMD of Shelton, Andrew (Nadeen) Tichy of Easton and Joyce (Juan) Tichy Zapata of NY; a brother, Michael (Evelyn) Dokla of Shelton; sisters, Antonia Cap of Shelton, Amelia Valente of Ansonia and Sefania (Raymond) Savoyski of Seymour; cherished grandchildren, Casey Tichy of Easton, Vanessa and John Joseph Zapata, both of NY, Mario Zapata of MA, Amet (Maribel) Zapata, NJ; great-grandson, Tyler Zapata; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 67 years, she was predeceased by a brother, John Dokla; and sisters, Mary Dutkanicz and Dorothy Dokla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 105 Clifton Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends are invited to attend a walk through visitation at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
