Obituary of Joseph George Butka

Joseph George Butka, age 90 of Trumbull, beloved husband for 51 years to the late Hildegarde (Woyt) Butka, died peacefully on November 24, 2020 at the Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center, Stratford.  Born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on February 14, 1930, George was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Andraso) Butka,  George lived in Brooklyn, NY and Bridgeport before becoming a long time resident of Trumbull. He proudly worked as a toolmaker and a leader in the family business, Butkin Manufacturing, for virtually his entire career.  George and Hildegarde loved to travel and George was always a colorful storyteller.  He is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Butka, of Trumbull, and by many nieces and nephews.  George was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Atkinson and her husband, Richard, brothers, John Butka and David Butka, and by David’s wife, Lois.  A graveside funeral service will take place in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield when we can all safely gather again to celebrate George’s life.  The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia is in care of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
