Obituary of Ewa Labowski
Ewa “Eva” Labowski, age 80 of Ansonia, wife of the late Joseph Labowski, died peacefully on December 27, 2020 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. Born in Bielanka, Poland on February 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Michal and Marta Czaczuna. Mrs. Labowski immigrated to the United States in 1963, settled in Shelton and remained a valley resident throughout her life. She was a very strong and caring person who had a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was passionate about cooking and baking – with pierogi being her specialty. Throughout the years, she shared a close bond with many friends – taking them shopping, doing their hair, and making one of her famous dishes. Mrs. Labowski was a longtime member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia and a tireless kitchen volunteer for their annual fall Slavic Fest. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Myra (Peter) Szewczyk of Ansonia; her son, Steven Czupyk of Ohio; stepdaughter, Olga (Buddy) Capristo of Shelton; a special niece, Teresa (Wolodymyr) Blazejowskyj of NJ; a sister, Anna Hawrylak of Poland; cherished grandsons, Joseph and Michael Szewczyk of Ansonia; and step-granddaughters, Gina Capristo of Shelton and Erica Capristo of TN. In addition to her husband, Joseph, she was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Czupyk. Funeral services, Meeting Directly At Church, will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 10:00 AM, at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Friends and family are invited to attend a walk-through visitation at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 28, 2020, Panakhida at 6:30 PM.
