Obituary of Michael Gerard Washicosky

Michael Gerard Washicosky, age 65, beloved husband of Barbara Ellsworth Washicosky of Oxford, died peacefully at Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford, surrounded by his family.  Born in Derby on April 12, 1955, he was the son of the late Stanley John and Christine Monko Washicosky.  Mr. Washicosky was raised in Shelton and graduated from Emmett O’Brien Vocational Technical High School.  He was a lifelong Valley resident and has resided in Oxford for 40 years.  Mr. Washicosky was a passionate car enthusiast and enjoyed a long career working within the auto industry for over 40 years, until the time of the Covid-19 furlough.  He was employed in the service and management departments of Stahl’s, Bob Thomas, Stevens, Executive Auto Group and lastly, Mercedes-Benz of Fairfield, where he held the position of Production Manager. He took great pride in landscaping and gardening around his home and honed his investigative nature in pursuing his family’s ancestry.  In his down time, Mr. Washicosky was a skilled woodworker, crafting handmade furniture and was amused by watching food shows on the Food Network.  He was a voracious reader and lover of all music, especially when it was blasting from his mustang convertible on a beautiful summer drive.  In addition to his wife of 14 years, he is survived by his devoted son, David (Aimee) Washicosky of NY; sisters, Ann Washicosky (Peter Gimenez) and Jane (John) Hyman, all of FL and a brother, Francis (Lynn) Washicosky of NY; cherished grandsons, Benjamin and Matthew Washicosky of NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
