Obituary of Cheryl Lynn Wadyka

Cheryl Lynn Wadyka, age 64, beloved wife of Patrick Snyder of Myrtle Beach, SC, died peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2021 in the comfort of her home, with her family by her side.  Born in Derby on February 20, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Walter Stephan and Helen Smeider Wadyka. Cheryl was raised in Ansonia and was a 1973 graduate of Ansonia High School.  She continued her education at UCONN and earned a B.S. of Laboratory Sciences.  Cheryl began her long and successful career in Lab Sciences, then transitioning through medical software and medical supply sales working at Park City Hospital, Angel Engineering Co., Health Systems International of New Haven, CT, and then subsequently  for 3M and the 3M Corporation. At 3M, she completed her Six Sigma training receiving a Black Belt certification and thrived in various sales positions for 30 years until her retirement in 2017. Cheryl had an inspiring-adventurous spirit, and together with her husband Patrick, she was able to experience many of life’s great pleasures. In her youth she enjoyed skiing across the USA, she then traded in skis for golf clubs, learned to scuba dive to experience the beauty of the sea, and was always researching a new place locally or globally to travel to. She was even brave enough to fly in smaller planes piloted by her husband to get over to the Cape Cod islands for a day of touring and shopping. Above all, Cheryl valued time with her family, hosting birthdays and holidays keeping family traditions alive while infusing fun and excitement into any gathering. One of her favorite pastimes was to read and research new recipes to share with all of her loved ones. Cheryl was an absolutely wonderful, giving, and sharing “Auntie” to her nieces Catie and Amy, offering endless love, support, and a perpetual invitation for them to stay at her house or to join any travel plans - which they enjoyed beyond measure. Cheryl was a fiercely loyal friend and loved spending quality time sharing good meals, wine, and laughs with the dear friends which she made wherever she went.  Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, her cherished nieces, Catherine (Catie) Wadyka of Berlin, CT and Amy Wadyka of Austin, TX; a devoted brother Walter Wadyka and his wife Annie of West Hartford, CT; cousins, Sally A. Menard-Beyer of Plantation, FL, Diane (John) Buck of Madison, CT, and David Menard of Ansonia, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial, meeting directly at Church, will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at the St. Mary Church Campus of the Precious Blood Parish, 70 Gulf Street, Milford.   Friends and family are invited to attend a walk-through visitation at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2021. Please be advised that all protocol, screening, and social restrictions of the Covid-19 Pandemic will be exercised.  Springtime interment will be in Sts.
