Obituary of Achille Mbaswa

Achille Mbaswa, age 83, beloved husband of Kusima Muhirwa Mbaswa of Shelton, died peacefully on February 16, 2021 at the Miller Memorial Health Care Center, Meriden, with his family by his side.  Born in Bukavu, South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on May 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Joseph Mbaswa and Celestina M’Chironge.  Mr. Mbaswa was a graduate of Louvain College of Belgium and enjoyed a long and prosperous career as a human resource professional, working in the corporate insurance industry.   To be closer to his family, Mr. Mbaswa immigrated to the United States in 2007.  He was devout in his Catholic Faith and served as a Eucharistic Minister; his life was comprised of Church, Work and Family.    Mr. Mbaswa is survived by 9 biological children; 2 adopted children; 40 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother and sister.    Friends and family are invited to attend a walk-through visitation at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 19, 2021.
