"Get ready, we are going to welcome your Cousin Barbara to live here in America". These are the words I remember as a child when our family gathered on a sparkling summer afternoon for a picnic of welcome and celebration. Barbara rounded the corner in a cotton shirtwaist dress, a shy smile on her face and probably a bit uncertain of her future. But what a wonderful party it was, full of hope, anticipation, native foods, and found family. Her winning personality and presence won us all over. Barbara's determination, unwavering faith, and loving support of her family are her legacy. . I will always remember her laughter, kindnesses and caring ways. Her and Jack's unwavering assistance helped my parents to remain in their home as their health failed, for which I am forever thankful, And I can not fail to mention all of her delicious buttery bakery creations. May we all find peace and comfort in her memory, recipes, and happy spirit. Until we all meet again, for an even better picnic and celebration, may you rest in peace dear Cousin Barbara..
