Obituary of Ralph Irwin Villers, III
Ralph Irwin Villers III, age 66, beloved husband of Patricia McDonald Villers of Ansonia, died December 2, 2021, in the comfort of his home. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, he was the son of the late Ralph Irwin and Eileen Scott Villers. Mr. Villers was raised primarily in East Hartford.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Franciscan University, Steubenville, OH. and worked as a purchasing agent for several companies, including Pratt & Whitney, AVCO, and Unger Enterprises. Mr. Villers worked for the Center for Disability Rights in West Haven where he also served as a past president and board member. He was a board member of the Valley Arts Council and the Derby Historical Society and served as chairman of the Ansonia Cultural Commission. In his retirement Mr. Villers and his wife published an online newsletter, The Valley Voice, mostly featuring the “good news” of the Lower Naugatuck Valley.
Mr. Villers enjoyed going to old car shows and all things aviation and was quite the expert on both subjects.
In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Allegra Villers of New Bedford, MA and Cameron Villers of Brooklyn, NY; sisters, Michele Nelson of East Hartford, Sharon (Bob) Cresenzi of East Windsor, Suzanne (Dave) Watson of Windsor; brother, Christopher (Brenda) Villers of Syracuse, UT; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Claudia Twohig and Victoria Martel. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Ashley Brownell and Sara Langer for their compassionate care extended to Ralph throughout his time of need.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
