Obituary of Gladys Delisa
Gladys DeLisa, age 100 of Seymour, died peacefully on Saturday, July 16,
2022 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Born in Hartford on January 15, 1922, she was the
daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Byra Maziarz. Gladys was the beloved wife
of the late Anthony “Tony” DeLisa for 68 years, most of that time spent in
Wethersfield.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Carol Hammarsted and her husband, Ron
of Seymour, a cherished grandson, Kurt Popick of Shelton and two adored great
grandchildren, Gavin and Laila.
She was predeceased by two brothers and five sisters including her identical twin
sister, Helen Rawski, with whom she shared a special lifelong bond. She also
leaves many nieces, nephews and friends from Coachman Square in Woodbridge
and Smithfield Gardens in Seymour.
Gladys enjoyed the NY Yankees, Uconn Women’s Basketball, puzzles, word games,
crafts, bowling and exercise, but her greatest joy was being surrounded by her
family, especially the Saturday night family dinners at her daughter’s home.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on July 26, 2022 at The Church of
the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Interment will be private.
