Obituary of Julie Ann Richardson

Julie Ann Richardson, age 57 of Naugatuck, beloved companion of John Kowal, died peacefully on September 23, 2022, at Griffin Hospital with her family by her side.  Born in Derby on December 9, 1964, she was the daughter of Ralph Richardson of Oxford and the late Ellen Gatcomb Richardson.  Julie was an adventurous spirit who loved to travel. Together with her companion John, they moved across the country and lived in Portland, Oregon where they started their family with the birth of their eldest daughter.   After some time, they moved back to Connecticut to settle down in the valley and raise their daughters close to their family.  She was an avid flower & vegetable gardener and amateur bird watcher, often tending to her feeders. Julie was a talented artist, creating many paintings and drawings throughout the years. Despite her many setbacks, Julie was an absolute optimist; she used her smile, sense of humor and positive outlook to inspire all who knew her.  Her passion was her family, she was forever devoted to her daughters and companion of 35 years. In addition to her father, Ralph and companion, John, she is survived by her devoted daughters, Stephanie P. Kowal of SC and Jaclyn A. Kowal of Shelton; a sister, Rita (Dennis) Moody of ME and a brother, Warren “Bud” (Linda) Richardson of Middlebury; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.  Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia.  A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 105 Clifton Ave., Ansonia.  Interment will be private.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
