Obituary of Arline A. Ciofani

Arline A. Ciofani, age 83, beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Ciofani, died peacefully on October 10, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport.  Born in Fairfield on February 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Mary Pivarnik Staffey. Mrs. Ciofani was a longtime Bridgeport resident and Communicant of St. Andrew Church. She enjoyed trips to the casino for the slot machines, was an avid reader, as well as an avid bird watcher. She loved all animals, both wild & domestic and made sure table scraps made their way outside for their benefit.  The nightly visitors included cats, opossums, racoons, squirrels and the occasional fox. But above all, her children and grandchildren were her life and passion.  She made every holiday memorable and will be long remembered for her special love and dedication to her family.  Mrs. Ciofani is survived by her devoted children, Lisa Jones of Ansonia, Anthony (Elaine) Ciofani of PA and Robert J. Ciofani of Bridgeport; a brother Robert (Jayne) Staffey of Bridgeport; cherished grandchildren, Edward and Michael Jones of Ansonia, Shannon Mumblo of MA, Alexander Ciofani of Norwalk, and Alyssa Ciofani of CA; great-grandchildren, Evan and Abigail Mumblo of MA; several nieces and nephews; two best friends, Susanne Boysan of Monroe and Anna Jisonna of Bridgeport, who were the sisters she never had; as well as her beloved feline friends, Tony & Oliver.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport.  Interment will directly follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, October 17, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org, or to the  Connecticut Humane Society, 455 Post Road East, Westport, CT 06880, Connecticut Humane Society (cthumane.org).  Online condolences may at www.wakeleememorial.com.
