Obituary of Delores D. Carangelo
Delores D. Carangelo, age 87 of Derby, beloved wife of the late George Carangelo, died peacefully on January 7, 2023 in the Gardner Heights Health Care Center, Shelton. Born in Blakely, PA on August 19, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Wasyl and Mary Kuzmick Stuchlak. Mrs. Carangelo graduated from the American Institute of Banking and earned her certificate as a legal secretary. She moved to CT in 1957 and became a devout member of Three Saints Orthodox Church of Ansonia. Mrs. Carangelo served as a church trustee, was active on the church council, participated in the annual slavic food fair and attended every service within her capacity. She enjoyed a long and successful career as a legal secretary for Avco-Lycoming from 1957 to 1965, then for the Buckley-Kulewicz & Flynn Law Firm from 1965 to 1995, the Flynn & Sheehy Law Firm from 1995 to 1998 and lastly for the Teodosio Stanek Law Firm from 1995 until the time of her retirement. She loved her many feline companions over the years and took great pride in her collection of over 1,000 cat figurines. Dolores would often jokingly refer to herself as “The Cat Lady.” She will be long remembered for mailing countless birthday cards to family and friends, never missing a year or forgetting an individual. It was her special way to share her love and remind you how much she valued your friendship. She is survived by her niece, Mary Pauline Merkel of Olyphant, PA; a cousin, Andrew (Mary Ann) Kuzmick of Scott Township, PA; three step-children, Kenneth M. Carangelo of Torrington, Nancy A. Carangelo of Courtland Manor, NY and Janet M. (Ron) Scott of NC; 6 step-grandchildren and 7 step-greatgrandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her first husband in 1973, Thomas F. Dixon and a stepdaughter, Christine Carangelo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 13, 2023, meeting directly at Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Avenue, Ansonia. A Panikhida will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023, meeting directly at All Saints Orthodox Church, 211 Willow Avenue, Olyphant, PA.
