Obituary of George Janucik

George Janucik, age 71 of Seymour, beloved husband of the late Margaret Ceglarek Janucik, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on January 29, 2023.  Born in Olecko, Poland on June 21, 1951, he was the son of the late John and Janina Janucik.  Mr. Janucik emigrated to the United States in 1960, settled in Seymour and has since been a valley resident ever since.  He worked as a diesel mechanic for the Pace Motors Trucking Company of Stratford for over 30 years, until the time of his retirement in 2018.  Mr. Janucik enjoyed playing the accordion and piano and was a lifelong automobile enthusiast. He would often attend area car shows and cruises with his pride and joy, a 1972 Corvette Stingray that he owned since 1975. He will be long remembered for his jovial personality and his ability to make people laugh.  He is survived by his devoted children, Christopher Janucik and his wife, Shima of Seymour and Michelle Dudzik and her husband, Krzysztof of FL; a sister, Stella Janucik of FL; cherished grandchildren, Isabella and Nicholas Dudzik of FL and Gabriel Janucik of Seymour. In addition to his wife of 38 years, he was predeceased by a brother, John Janucik.  Funeral services will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett Avenue, Ansonia.  Interment will be private.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
