Obituary of George Paul Brankman
George Paul Brankman, age 82, beloved husband of Roberta “Bobbi” Parry Brankman of Hoosick Falls, NY, died peacefully in the comfort of his daughter’s residence in Derby, CT on March 20, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in Westport, NY on August 20, 1941, he was the son of the late George V. and Betty Austin Brankman. Mr. Brankman was raised in Westport, NY and was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran. Following his military service, he earned his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Plattsburg and his master’s degree from North Adams State College of North Adams, MA, graduating from both colleges with honors. Mr. Brankman worked as an elementary school teacher for over 30 years for the Hoosick Falls Central School District, until the time of his retirement in 1996. Mr. Brankman was an aviation enthusiast and considered chasing a private pilot’s license. He built and flew his own RC model airplanes and enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin to attend the EAA Air Venture, air show and aviation gathering- better known as OshKosh. In addition to his loving spouse of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter, Nicole Sargood and her husband, Edward Sargood of Derby, CT; siblings, Anne Dickerson of Keeseville, NY, Sally Alkon and her husband, Philip of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Anthony Brankman and his wife, Mary of Loudenville, NY, Michael Brankman and his wife, Cathy of Peru, NY and Peter Brankman and Ellen Langlais of Andover, New Hampshire; granddaughter, Jennifer Sargood of Queens, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Adam Sargood and a brother, Tom Brankman. Funeral services are private. The Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, is in care of arrangements.
