Obituary of James Bishop
James Bishop, age 74 of Seymour, beloved husband of the late Phyllis Nadeau Bishop, died on November 5, 2015 in his home following a sudden illness. Born on October 9, 1941, in Bridgeport, he was the only child of the late James E. and Irene (O’Hara) Bishop. Mr. Bishop was raised in Easton, resided in Newtown and Monroe for many years before settling in Seymour for over 25 years. He was a 1960 Newtown High School Graduate and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War. James was honorably discharged in 1966, decorated with the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and as an Expert M-14 Rifle Marksman. He has made many friends over the years with his involvement in martial arts, playing darts, a state champion at archery, and his frequent visits to 100 Church, the Lakehouse, among many other establishments. Mr. Bishop will be long remembered for his whimsical phrases that his loved ones frequently share. He is survived by his devoted children, Scott and his wife Kimberly Bishop of Bethany, Yvonne and her husband William Lorincz of Seymour, James and his wife Lisa Bishop of Monroe, eight grandchildren, Caleb Bishop of Bethany, Michael, Dana, and Scott Corcoran, and William Lorincz of Seymour, Dale, Gwen and Liam Bishop of Monroe, as well as many nieces and nephews. Private Graveside services with Military Honors will take place at the CT Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown.
