Obituary of Giuseppe Pelaccia
Giuseppe “Joe” Pelaccia, age 73, beloved husband of Elisabetta “Lisa” Montepara Pelaccia of Ansonia, died peacefully on February 2, 2017 at Griffin Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in Bari, Italy on July 5, 1943, he was the son of the late Biagio and Teresa Guglielmi Pelaccia. Mr. Pelaccia immigrated to the U.S. in 1959 and settled in Derby, where he resided until moving to Ansonia in 1982. He worked as an extruder machine operator for the American Brass Co., for 44 years, until the time of his retirement in 2008. Mr. Pelaccia enjoyed spending time at home with his family and he especially adored his time with his grandchildren. A long time car enthusiast, Mr. Pelaccia’s pride and joy was his 2004 Cadillac CTS, known to all in his west side neighborhood. His social personality endeared many to him as he’d be often found walking the sidewalks, chatting with his neighbors or purchasing his lottery tickets. In addition to his beloved wife of 52 years, he is survived by his devoted sons, Gino (Marie) Pelaccia of Oxford and Franco (Rebecca) Pelaccia of Seymour; a brother, Vincent (Gloria) Pelaccia of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Gino Jr., Anthony, Giovanni, and Alyssa Pelaccia; and Franco Jr., Nicholas, Matthew Pelaccia; as well as a cherished great-grandson, Anthony Pelaccia. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Ave., Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd. (Rte. 67), Oxford. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, February 6, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
