Obituary of Judy Cannon
Judy Cannon, age 71, beloved wife of William H. Cannon of Ansonia, died peacefully on July 22, 2017 at Masonicare, Wallingford, surrounded by her family. Born in Derby on August 14, 1945, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Lazarko Berenda. Mrs. Cannon was a 1962 graduate of Ansonia High School and attended the Stone Business Academy. She worked as a secretary for the Western Electric Co. (predecessor of AT&T) of New Haven from 1978-1981, being awarded the prestigious “Secretary of the Year” award in 1979. In addition, she was employed at Philips Medical Co. of Shelton from 1983 until the time of her retirement in 2001. Mrs. Cannon was a Seymour resident for over 40 years, before returning to Ansonia in 2010. She was a member of the Seymour and Ansonia United Methodist Churches. A loving wife and dedicated mother, she was an active Girl Scout Leader for her daughters in their younger years. Having a daughter with disabilities, she was a skilled and compassionate caregiver, as well as a champion for the disabled. Her infectious personality enabled her to easily engage in conversation and she always found the beauty in others. Mrs. Cannon will be long remembered as a bit of “spitfire”, a phenomenal mother and spouse, a fierce friend, and forever enriching the lives of all she came to know. In addition to her husband of 50 years, she is survived by her devoted daughter, Stacey Lynn Cronk and her husband, Kenneth of Milford; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a cherished daughter, Lisa Cannon Wolf; a sister, Jeannette Hein and brother, John Berenda. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ansonia. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
